MIRROR WORLD
The World in the Mirror originated from my gaze and fascination with my mirror self. Whenever I gaze longingly into a mirror, the face reflected in it grows unfamiliar, as if someone I don't recognize is standing across from me. I began to fantasize that there was a whole world hidden on the other side of the mirror - a realm full of unknowns. In the painting, the image behind the mirror is transformed into the bottom of a swimming pool, with blue and green intertwined water rippling, and highly compositional lines and geometric shapes constructing a mysterious and disturbing atmosphere. On the right, a snake slowly approaches me, its sinuous gesture symbolizing lurking danger and bringing a hint of palpitating tension. The hand reaching out from the sink seems to be a plea for help from the world behind the mirror, a metaphor for the struggles and calls from another dimension. This work is my questioning of self-knowledge and unknown boundaries.
